GB QUEEN VICTORIA, BLACK PENNY, PLATE 2, R-K, RAY FLAW, 4 MARGINS
ABOUT THE STAMP
Plate 2 was also one of the earliest used, registered on 22 April 1840. It is often distinguished by "ray flaws" in the upper corner stars (specifically a shortened or missing "10 o'clock" ray) and was used for some of the earliest printings issued on 6 May 1840.
Bottom Corner Letters R-K: These indicate the stamp's position on the original sheet of 240. The "R" (left corner) signifies the 18th row down, and the "K" (right corner) signifies the 11th column across.
Ray Flaw: The ray at the 10 o'clock position in the top-left corner star is either missing or much shorter than the others. This flaw is a primary identifier for Plates 1a, 1b, and 2.
7 o'clock Ray Flaw: In the top-left star, this flaw is characteristic of Plate 1b and many impressions from Plate 2.
4 Margins.
