ABOUT THE STAMPS
GB Queen Victoria 2d BLUE SG 14 Plate 3
Letters, Row, and Column: The bottom corner check letters are R (left) and D (right).
Row: R is the 18th letter of the alphabet, meaning this stamp comes from the 18th row of the printed sheet.
Column: D is the 4th letter of the alphabet, meaning this stamp comes from the 4th column.
Plate Number: This stamp is printed from Plate 3. In this era, the plate numbers were not yet engraved on the sides of the stamps (as they were in later issues), but they can be distinguished from later plates because this stamp is imperforate (cut with scissors rather than perforated edges).
There are no blatant structural errors visible on this specific stamp. The fine white hairline scratch running horizontally across the top section is cellophane from album.
This stamp does not have perfect margins. specific copy has poor/tight margins. The stamp has good margin at the top, bottom and left side of the stamp while on the right side is significantly cut into on the frame.
