GB QUEEN VICTORIA 1840, 2d BLUE, SG5, Plate 1, T-F, 3½ MARGIN, Used
ABOUT THE STAMPS
This is classic GB 1840 2d Two Penny Blue (Imperforate).
Stanley Gibbons Catalogue Number SG 5, Plate 1.
Row and Column (Position): The letters T - F mean the stamp occupied Row T (the 20th and bottom row of the sheet, as 'T' is the 20th letter) and Column F (the 6th column, as “F” is the 6th letter). It is the 234th stamp on a full sheet of 240.
The characteristic where the letter “T” lines up tightly/misplaces left with the lower-left box frame is a known hallmark of Plate 1 positioning for this specific coordinate.
The dot after the letter F is a prominent philatelic constant variety known as a "Guide Dot in the SE Square". Guide dots were marked on the original plates to help the engravers accurately align the individual stamp impressions.
The letter T is lining on its box on the right side of the box frame.
