ABOUT THE STAMPS
GB QUEEN VICTORIA 1858,
2d SG 45, Plate 8 (Great Britain 1858 2d Blue with Thick White Lines).
Plate Number:Plate 8(engraved vertically into the left and right lace frames of each stamp).
What makes Plate 8 special?
Plate 8 is highly valued by line-engraved collectors because it represents the very first plate produced for the 1858 corner-lettered 2d series. Along with Plate 9, it is unique for having notably thick white parallel horizontal lines
across the top and bottom borders. Because it was the inaugural plate of the design modification, it suffered from rapid plate wear, making cleanly cancelled multiples in this deep shade highly collectible.
