GB QUEEN VICTORIA 1858, 2d DEEP BLUE, SG 47, Pl. 15, CS-SC, Used
ABOUT THE STAMPS
The GB QV SG 47, Plate 15 stamp is a Victoria 2d (Two Pence) Deep Blue definitive stamp issued in 1869. This specific stamp features Queen Victoria in profile and belongs to the line-engraved series.
• SG 47: The catalogue number assigned by Stanley Gibbons.
• Plate 15: The exact printing plate used. You can actually see the number "15" engraved in the intricate scrollwork on both the left and right borders of the stamp.
• Corner Letters SC-CS: Early British stamps used letters to show where they sat on a giant sheet of 240 stamps. The bottom corners show S (left) and C (right), which means the stamp was printed in Row 19 (S is the 19th letter) and Column 3 (C). The top corners reverse these letters to C (left) and S (right) to help prevent forgery.
