ABOUT THE STAMPS

British Levant -

The Ink Color: It features the vibrant, bright carmine/rose red tone characteristic of the original 1902 De La Rue printing run. The later Somerset House printings (issued from 1911 onward) lean into a noticeably deeper, duller, and heavier crimson-carmine ink color.

The Catalogue Entry: In the Stanley Gibbons reference system, SG 12 is strictly reserved for the De La Rue printings of this overprint. If it were a Somerset House printing, it would be categorized under a completely separate catalogue entry ( SG 34).

Very nice stamp overall, nearly well centred, bad issue is the hinge mark at the back.
