GB QUEEN VICTORIA 1855/64, 1d RED BROWN SG 43/44, Pl.95, QK-KQ, Used
ABOUT THE STAMPS
There is nothing inherently rare or exceptionally valuable about Plate 95 of the Great Britain Queen Victoria 1d Penny Red (categorised under Stanley Gibbons SG 43 or SG 44).
Unlike famously rare plates in this series, such as the mythical Plate 77 or the scarce Plate 225, Plate 95 was a standard production plate and is quite common.
While a basic Plate 95 stamp is common, specific examples can carry a premium if they feature specialized errors or historical markings like misperforations: Stamps where the perforation sheets shifted, cutting off the design or putting the value text at the top.
Official Underprints: At the back of the stamp in plate 95 there are examples featuring an official underprint (such as the red "Oxford Union Society" underprint) which all are highly collected.
