1943 ALBANIA, GERMAN OCCUPATION, Mi.1-13, MH
ABOUT THE STAMPS
The 1943 German occupation of Albania began on 8 September 1943, following the Italian armistice. Seeking to secure the coastline against potential Allied landings, Nazi Germany established a client state, the Albanian Kingdom under a "neutral" government led by nationalist collaborators. Germans used existing Italian-period Albanian stamps and overprinted them with the text " 14 Shtator 1943 " (September 14, 1943). Collectors look for constant plate flaws, such as a "short numeral 1" in "1943" or distorted letters in "Shtator".
